At Create Studios, we’ve been helping new voices break into film and digital media for over 20 years. Create Traction is our next step: a 15-month programme (Jan 2025 – Mar 2026) designed to give emerging talent in Swindon, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire the confidence, skills and real-world experience they need to thrive in the industry.
We have worked with 48 participants at entry and early career stage, focusing on four key areas where the industry needs people most:
- Sparks (pre-Gaffer)
- Focus Pullers
- Production Co-ordinators progressing to Production Managers
- DIT (Digital Imaging Technicians)
What’s involved
Participants will take part in:
- 2 x day Masterclasses with industry professionals
- 1 x A live production shoot to put learning into practice
- 1 x Paid work placements with local studios and production companies
- Personal mentoring and networking opportunities
- Training with Creative Access to sharpen presentation and employability skills
All training is delivered in small groups, making sure every participant gets the attention and support they need.

Our region has over 300 creative companies and exciting new studios opening nearby – but too often local graduates feel they have to leave for London or Bristol to find work. Create Traction changes that story. By building strong links between talent, education and industry, we’re opening up real opportunities right here.

Lasting impact
Beyond training, Create Traction will map upcoming production in Swindon, Wilts & Glos, explore new industry hubs like a regional Film Office, and continue to champion diverse and underrepresented voices at the heart of our work.
