SOFA SCREENINGS
Young Mothers follows the lives of five teen mothers, housed in a shelter together in Belgium. They all dream of a better life for themselves and their children. They learn to live together, sharing what they have and work together to raise and support their children together.
Described as compassionate and quietly outstanding by The Guardian, this film highlights the power of community, and offers a delicate exploration of adolescent mothers struggling to survive their reality.
The film won Best screenplay at Cannes earlier this year, and takes on a pseudo documentary style to tell the story of five young mothers, echoing the works of Ken Loach, Andrea Arnold and other directors who have delved into social realism.
