Create Futures is our very own graduate programme run by the team Create Studios, aimed at young people (graduates aged about 18-25) returning to the region who want to work in creative media (film, animation, design, photography, videography).
Working part-time over three months, participants get real work experience: working on current Create Studios productions whilst also making their own short films and documentaries with mentoring from the team.
Gaining industry standard skills in directing, producing, camera work, editing and more, the purpose of Create Futures is to retain local creative talent, and provide a supportive stepping stone from education into the digital Creative Industries.
Since the programme piloted pre-pandemic, alumni are working across roles as diverse as documentary development, post-production, camera and production management everywhere from Broadcasters to their own production companies. Our latest Create Futures cohort began at the end of September and already Sol, Amy, Ben, Sam and Lewis have been hands on at a shoot for Williams F1 team!
Check out the amazing day they had in Bristol thanks to our wonderful Strategic Development Associate Jenn Blackwood who called in some great contacts.
The group had great fun at BTF+, touring the MyWorld studios, participating in a demo of the Reality Simulator, exploring the Virtual Production studio with Distortion Studios, the 4K smart cinema, and speaking with motion capture researchers from camera at University of Bath.
They also had a tour of the Pervasive Media Studio and played with airgiantshq robotic plants Hothouse at Bristol Beacon.
They saw Anagram’s VR experience about ADHD, narrated by Tilda Swinton at the Undershed in the Watershed. One of them was filmed for an interview for feedback of the experience:
