SOFA SCREENINGS

This ambitious first time feature won three awards at the BIFAs this year, including Best Debut Director in Documentary and Best Feature Documentary.

Myrid Carten’s striking directorial debut explores her turbulent relationship with her mother after she goes missing, causing Myrid to return home to help find her. In turn, Myrid faces the underlying pain and suffering that permeates her family, as a history of addiction and family secrets bubbles up.

Carten’s film is unflinching in its approach, offering a deeply personal and difficult examination of maternal relationships and addiction that rarely offers any answers to the questions it asks, but captivates through its heart-breaking honesty.
