Jodie Foster plays the cold yet charming psychiatrist Lilian Syeiner, who sees her reputation in jeopardy when one of her patients dies suddenly and the family comes knocking for answers. With the family not believing her declaration of innocence for any wrongdoing, Syeiner takes it on herself to investigate what really happened. 

A Private Life brings a sleek and stylish murder mystery which sees Foster nestle into French life, tackling her own personal grievances with her son and ex-husband, while unknowingly being in the centre of her dead patients’ tumultuous private life.
